Return Visit

Almost a year later, one of the baby Black Racer snakes came to my front door..........I think to say Hi.

Definately friend. I havn't been bitten yet though, that must have been scarey. I'm always on the lookout for them.......I almost grabbed one while weeding once, I stepped on one once (don't know why he didn't bite me), and almost picked one up thinking it was a stick once. I've had one strike at me but I was ready for it.
What happened with your bite? Did he let go right away? Did you have to go to the doctor about it?

Diohio,

That is so cool that you could actually get the racer eggs to hatch. I rarely see any racers at my house, however with all the stone walls, fences and water gardens I have a lot of garter snakes. I found one in my tub one morning. I had brought in some plants from outside to water and left them in the tub over night the next morning I found a huge garter snake in my house. It's a good thing I found it and not my husband. I found one fishing in one of my water gardens. He was half emerged in the pond.
I'm with you. They are a gardeners friend.
