Lysimachia punctata

Gorgeous colours, nature sure knows best.

I dug a whole lot of these out last autumn, as they have a habit of 'walking' across the border! I still seem to have plenty left, though...

Good ground cover though.

I do like them, but I prefer Lysimachia clethroides - it 'walks', too! It's good in my shady border, Sbg...have you got it?

no i dont know that one or at least i dont recognise the name. I saw a lovely fine flowered white one a few years ago. dont know its name either. will google it to see what it is like. :o)

....common name 'Goose Neck'??? I don't know, as I haven't tried, but as I have succeeded in potting up some L. punctata, I should imagine I could have a go with this one for you??

would say root division proberly your best bet Spritz, it works quite well with L. punctata, - i had to put mine in a pot as it was rampant, it is lovely though i have moved it in a large square pot into the front garden which is hiding an ugly bit of cracked paving stone...two birds one stone ;-) mine is not in flower as yet though.

I heaved some of this out and have it in pots for the plant stall - if anyone is mad enough to want some!!! So yes, I think the L. clethroides should be easy as well.

lol - it sells like hot cakes on ebay Spritz.... along with my white violets.... and golden rod that i sell!.... i would think you will sell loads of it!

I enjoyed these comments. My late father-in-law introduced this plant into my garden without my permission a few years ago and now it is popping up everywhere!! In the right place it is reliable. long lasting and quite spectacular, but where you don't want it it is nothing more than a pernicious weed!

Angie was right, though - all four pots got sold! I'll have to make sure I dig up some more in the autumn - and pot it up ready for next year.

yep told you it would. and yes it is a lovely plant, in the right place, i had this come in from next door, i did'nt want it there so i pulled it out potted it up and it is covering some ugly crazy paving in the front garden in pots...looks great here and has not choice but to behave it's self. :D

It grows on the stream bank, as well as in my top border. When it's in flower, it makes a lovely splash of yellow - a contrast with the pinks and purples in there.

sounds lovely i really like it, but just don't want it every where and limited to space, so a pot is a good option, also really easy to tip out divide and sell that way ;-)

if i had a big garden and a stream like you i would definately have a space for this maybe planted up with cornflower (the traditional blue) and Solidago, maybe a few Crocrosmia and Orange day lillies and just for good measure Alchemilla mollis....mmmm would'nt that just be a picture!...ooohhh and some of thoughs lovely pale blue Iris you have for a bit of early colour too...... bang goes that imagination again!
