Hi Mageth
Thank you for your interest in the the first gnome [ Charlie ] to the Geographic South Pole in 1977
About 1980 I wrote to the Manager at the South pole Base to inquire about Charlie and his whereabouts
They were unable to locate him
I suspect he may have been knobbled by a science worker and is now living in the USA.
Anyhow I was informed last year by a returning polar worker , that there are four garden gnomes now living at the south pole .
Infact one of my other gnomes [ signed by Sir Ed Hillary etc ] has just recently returned from the Antarctica .
I believe there are over twenty gnomes living in Antarctica at present .
Google Henry Sunderland or Gnomologist you may get further information if required.
Once again thanks for your inquiry and
Best wishes with your gardening

I,m so pleased we have a proper name for him as i,ve been calling him Gnomey ..
Charlie suits him much better , he may eventually come home to you . it would be nice to one day find out where he has been ..... :o)
