Famous artifiical coir based rocks? Am I the only person never to have heard of these? I should probably watch more TV......??

Never heard of it myself Sid untill to-day and you are right about Geoff Hamilton I dont think any these days are a match to him

Would you believe! I still have that episode of 'Gardeners World' on video where he showed you how to make the artificial rocks.
You can also add Roy Lancaster and Geoffrey Smith up there with Geoff Hamilton, never cared much for Alan Titmarsh and certainly not Monty Don!

Must admit Roy Lancaster and Geoffrey Smith are a bit before my time!! Don't mind Alan (so long as he's not holding forth on decking), but Monty Don - UGH! DON'T GET ME STARTED! The man is no gardener as far as I'm concerned.

I saw GW the other Friday for the first time in 4 years and I won't repeat the words that went through my head!! The man hasn't a clue - it was so disjointed and none of the advice given seemed to make sense to a relative amateur.
Percy Thrower introduced me to the joys of gardening (thank you Blue Peter) then Geoff Hamilton and Alan Titchmarsh. The lads from The Beechgrove Garden (BBC Scotland) helped too.
Could Monty not watch some of these guys to get some tips????

Looks like we are all in agreement Maple about Mr Monty Don ,and yes Bluespruce Roy Lancaster is up there with the best

People like Geoff Hamilton and Roy Lancaster were, and are passionate and enthusiastic about all plants, and above all, interesting to watch, the only person that comes anywhere close these days in my opinion is Carol Klien, at least she is a plantswoman, and when she is allowed to talk about her favorite subject of Perennials, you know, she knows, what she is talking about.

I think Carol Klien is great she has a passion for plants and she talks in a way that we all understand and I love her coloum in the Garden News

Oh I am glad we are all in agreement re Monty Don! I half expected to get lots of sniffy messages about how great he is!!! I just can't bare to watch GW these days - just the sight of That Man mincing round a garden and isn't he patronising? And how does a person go from designing jewellery to being an expert in gardening? UGH.
