Her is a long cold valley bottm where the real cold air flows in winter. The trees are old but short from the cold and the ground is called muskeg, a lumpy cold swamp.

I love the muskeg for the variety that grows. But yes, definately dangerous footing and lots of mosquito to be dealt with. Right now you can barely be outside anywhere. They are thick.

Dangerous ground there, appearing more solid than it really is - badlands for moose especially. There can be some interesting plants, but you would probably get eaten alive by blackflies looking for them! The stunted trees are interesting aren't they - nature's Bonsai.
