This lives at the end of the fernery and is always the first to bloom.

It now stands at just over six feet tall, by about three feet, but I took the top out of it in February and pruned the sides. It hides the compost heap!

I don't know much about this type of fuchsia...
I guess it is hardy, but loses its leaves in winter ?

Yes Tt, it is just about the hardiest fuchsia and grows wild in many parts of Cornwall. I've also seen it growing in the wild in Scotland! It is deciduous, as is the golden leaved form. Easily grown from cuttings, it also makes an excellent flowering hedge, if you don't mind bare twigs in winter.
