couldn't resist taking this photo of a large weed (wild flower) border in one of the fields where we walk our dogs. I believe it's owned by the owners of the very neat large garden it backs on to. My husband said he used to make peashooters from the stalks of this lovely plant although I thought it was poisonous.

Hi Lindak, it was taller than me so it probably is!

I wouldn't get near it if I were you......

maybe it is a hogweed but not the nastiest kind. I do know that GH is a lot chunkier than that when fully grown. This looks quite elegant.
We used to shoot plantain (grass) heads at each other, but I don't know if I could now.

Looking again at this picture I don't think this is the hogweed. Look at the internet pictures and the leaves are much broader and the flower seems fuller with thicker stems and they say it grows 10 to 12 feet. Have a look.

Thanks Lindak, I'm glad my husband wasn't making peashooters with a poisonous plant :>))) I wonder what it is, it's everywhere in the fields, it's about 5.6-8ft high. I'll put another pic on and see if anyone knows.

I spent a while googling some umbellifera (that shape) wildflowers, but found nothing conclusive. Don't think it's Queen Anne's Lace is it? That has a dark pink/red spot in the centre. The flowerheads don't look so dense on this one.

hi, I'm putting another photo on of a whole load of them, some are about 8ft or so high. I don't think it's queen annes lace Weeding and some are quite thick stemmed.
