Casualty three...a fledgling apple tree with a big problem!

One of three apples grown from local Glastonbury apple seeds last autumn (Glastonbury is also known as Avalon ....Isle of Apples among many other titles...lots of orchards in Somerset!) All three have some sort of icky weird brown crisping disease. Also a tree I grew three yeasr ago has grown to about three feet but still has the same 'rust'. Any ideas? Will the wee potted ones survive?

Many of my tree seedlings have been scorched this year due to the dry weather combined with a stiff breeze - I wonder if that is what is wrong here? There also appear to be holes - slugs I'm guessing there.
