Alocasia portodora - Alocasia

Alocasia portodora - Alocasia (Alocasia portodora - Alocasia)

My Alocasia portodora was planted in Fall of last year. It's
growing quickly and its new leaf is getting larger.

Sandra, yes the leaves are pretty dramatic.

Bernieh, this is just a little baby plant yet...the
leaves will grow much larger and the plant will
develop a trunk to at least 12 feet / 4 meters tall.

Solution 1
You can grow them here in the garden in summer, when no frosts are forcast
and bring them back in before winter not quite the same as living somewhere
warm and sunny, but nearly.

Solution 2.
Move somewhere sunny .
I'm just off to pack !!

Youngdaisydee,

Yes, they are easy to grow in a container or plant
in the ground outside in Spring until you receive temps 40 degrees F/ 4.4 degrees C. or lower...then they can be dug out and put into a pot and stored for winter.

Mushybanna:

Very good solutions.

Youngdaisydee:

Good luck finding this plant!

Beware of munching sow bugs...they
will eat the tubers and trunks on Alocasia.
Sow bugs have killed some of my Alocasia in
the past.
