When I bought this plant it was labelled "Duchess of Edinburgh" I know that it is not the duchess but don't have a clue who this lovely thing really is!! someday I'll get around to looking her up....lol.The flowers are huge..it is about 4-5 inches across and it's the only blossom on the plant! it is not very hardy...but on the advice of a friend I've bought some fish emulsion and the unknown is going to have a lovely shot of that!

Lori:

Such a wonderful white flower! Does it have a fragrance?

I love clemmies D1, but I've had to adjust my expectations a little...they don't do as well for me as I had hoped...so I'm taking steps to remedy that...
I only know of one var. of Clematis that does have scent...it's a late blooming Montana (I think, don't quote me.) the flowers are bountiful and white...check out Mikec's pics.... it is very hardy in our northern climate and fast growing. I'm looking for that one but have yet to see it on offer...

Lori:

Thanks for the information.

I do remember a Clematis that had a fragrance, however, I don't remember the name.
