Sandra:
Very neat looking Dragon Fly! I used to be very scared of these when I was a kid because they can give a nasty bite.
16 Jun, 2009
know one told me that....

Sandra:
Yes, you should read up on them...they can bite! However, I think they are more afraid of people then we are of them...so I don't think it's very likely they will bite, unless provoked.

i found this one in the kitchen first then it settled in the conservetory. i used the glass an card method to get it out...

Sandra:
That sounds like me with most bugs.
Dragonflies are very good for the environment...they
eat a lot of "bad" bugs like Mosquitoes.

we live on the side of a valley with a boggy stream creeping along the bottom. but in winter it floods half way up the valley. we get all sorts of related birds and bugs. i'm learning...;-))

Sandra:
I would think you would have a lot of dragonflies there...especially if you have a lot of water around. I saw quite a few around in Balboa Park today.

Tateyg, Sandra:
I think they all can...however, I'm not sure. I think they only bite if threatened...but like I said before they are very good for the environment because they eat a lot of mosquitoes and other bugs.
I saw a documentary on dragonflies a while back...and this man was catching them to examine the wings and other parts...the dragonfly was biting the guy -- he said it hurt, however, it didn't break the skin.
The moral to this little story is: don't catch them and examine them. LOL!
