Wait a minute Catfinch, I thought your fav was canterbury bells??? ;~)
Thanks for the comments guys :)
Sorry Angie, I don't mean to make you jealous. What kind of temps do you get? It's been mostly in the 70 and 80's here, which is actually very cool for this time of year for this area. We'll be in the 90s later this week. I was recently on vacation in San Diego CA, which is down south from us and close to Mexico. You should have seen the hibiscus plants or should I call them trees! OMG! They were huge! I snapped a few shots from the zoo of hibiscus flowers, if you'd like to see them. They're posted on here. Ckeck my Visit to SD Zoo blog :) Then you'll really be jealous!

It's hard to just pick one Cat!
Angie- I had to look up the conversion, but yeah I think it's too cold. Here's a handy link for that:

Have your tried to grow them indoors in a sunny location? It's so frustration when things don't bloom. I have a few cattleya orchids that I bought years ago and they've never bloomed for me!!! I talked to an orchid guy and he suggested that put them outside for the summer. I guess the temperature change is what causes them to bloom. I hope that yours blooms soon, fingers crossed :)

I had a Hibiscus that I ended up naming..I called her Lady Hibiscus..I had her for oh 10 years I suppose..I let her get all root bound and she loved living in my kitchen window ..she was red like the one Tracy has here...I added a Peach one to the same root bound pot later ...they both loved it there...I kept a big pan of under them with steep sides...I filled it with water everyday...they were thirsty and I gave them pellets of osmicote...oh they were so happy....my husband was in the hospital for a month in the winter, they had developed spider mites just before he went in...I put them out on the deck and forgot them..when we got home..I saw that they had frozen..I brought them in..poured osmicote on them and watered them. They took some time but they came back..then after my husband passed they developed spider mites again. i took them out of the rootbound pot...put them into a bigger pot with new potting soil in I brought them inside gave them a fish feritlizer instead of osmicote and they shriveled and died..so I guess I did it..but if you want your Hibiscus like this one to bloom..let them get rootbound..keep them in full sun inside if possible and feed them osmicote and lots of water...they love it...
