Succulent- I don't know the name

It looks great from this view, but from the side it looks kind of bad. It's trunk is bare and the bottom leaves are always dry. It looks as if it needs to be planted deeper, but the roots are too big. I guess it needs a deeper pot or to be in the ground. Any recommendations from the succulent experts...you know who you are :)
