Fruit can be eaten raw or cooked. When full ripe the fruit has a sweet and reasonably pleasanttaste. The cultivar 'Camelliifolia' has huge quantities of fruit. The fruit is the size of a large cherry and, when fully ripe it has a reasonable flavour. I would advise you not to eat any fruit that is slightly bitter as the bitterness is caused by the presence of the toxic compounds -
