Antiphlogistic; Bitter; Resolvent; Stimulant.
Both the leaves and flowers are antiphlogistic, bitter, resolvent and stimulant. It has been used in making poultices for tumours and ulcers. It is also effective in the treatment of all kinds of inflammation and used in the treatment haemorrhoids. It is harvested in the summer whilst in flower and dried for later use.
