Thanks, Jacque.
Louise, I got wildflower seed mix and these were what the majority of the seeds were. I planted individual seeds of them elsewhere and have more in wee pots for later in the summer.

Good idea with the pots for later on :)

I think bumble bees are very lucky!
By the way, about the nest under the shed. Is it still there - do you have to worry about children being stung. A friend of mine has a nest under his shed and has very very sadly decided to kill them. I know it's shocking (to me - I can't bear it :( What has happened to your nest?

It's still there, at first we only noticed a few bee's but now about 6 or 7 or more go in or out every minute and there are loads of bee's on all the flowers.
I don,t worry about the kids with them because I don,t think they sting unless their threatened, I work amongs the plants inches from the nest entrance and they don't bother me, I love watching them go about their business, I find it calming ( like others watching fish in a fishtank).
I certainly wouldn,t get rid of them as I know they are in a sort of decline.

Lovely photo. and thanks for naming the plant. I have some flowering in my garden but they came in a mixed pack of hardy annual seeds!

The bumbles are quite docile and just go about their business of collecting pollen and nectar for their colony. Their nests don't usually amount to thousands like the honeybee only from about 20 to 150 bees. I have just bought a bee box for the bumble bees. Bees only usually sting if you flap about and get one caught in your clothing or hair by mistake and then they get frightened. Bumble bees are not aggressive. The colony only lasts for a year with new queens leaving the nest to hibernate to start a new colony in the Spring. Hope this helps.

Looks great Linda, be good when they nest in it. I had to look up skeps as well, some of them are very good.
