Red rose

Red rose

The color is really much darker, more of a dark burgundy...I wish I knew exactly what kind of rose it is, but the tag it came with didn't say! =( It just said it was a miniature hybrid.

It is possible that it may not have been named, as such. I don't know what system the Rose growers use, but (so i'm told) with Begonias when a new variety is discovered/created the grower gives it a number first and grows it for five years - this is to make sure that it stays true to form and doesn't return to either of the parent plants. After it has been grown for five years, i believe, it can then be named and be classed as a first class show plant. whether this applies to Roses i don't know. I do know that sometimes garden centres don't bother to label their plants fully! I recently purchased a Begonia Rex from Dobbies, and that was all the label said (which is disapointing if you want to show the plant).

Thanks, I had no idea that it might not have been named...I guess it really doesn't help that I bought it at the grocery store !! rather than a garden center or a nursery... =)
