thanks..I don't know much about spiders or insects, but it didn't look like it was munching so i left it.

Its just protecting the plant form other muchers. ALways good to keep around. I've one in my marigolds that waits in the petals with legs extended and catches flies out of the air!

Yes, another photo I have shows it having an ant and a ladybird!
