a heady scented lily. not an asiatic type. unknown variety though, unless you know?

It looks a bit like one called 'Souvenir' - short, almost double with a white centre? A possibility?

i have been busy with the rest of the border today and do you think this would cope in the semi shade of the beech hedge? the planting area is much bigger than i had first thought. i'll do a blog tomorrow hopefully.

I don't see why not, as long as it gets some sun during the day - why not leave it in its pot this time and see - then you could plant it permanently for next year, or sink the pot in??
