Thanks :) I think its always worth growing these yourself if you can, they always seem expensive to buy at garden centres

Beautiful Cosmos. And early, mine aren't open yet. I have a new varitey I grew from seed this year which I was looking forward to(Candy Stripe) but I can't see it so I reckon the slugs or snails have nibbbled them!

Thats a shame Paul. I started off mine in the greenhouse and were a bit spindley when I put them out, they are picking up now but oh so slowly. The ground is so dry here but I find if I keep dead heading they flower for ages. Have you ever grown Cosmos 'seashells' I'm going to look out for these for next year.

That name sounds familiar, Willowisp. I wonder if I grew them last year. I shall go out into potting shed and see if I can find seed packet. I probably still have it. The ones that you see very regularly (again I've forgotten name, might be Carusel or something similar) always grow too big in my clay soil and cover everything else as well as blowing over in the wind if not properly staked. 2 or 3 years ago, they grew to nearly 4ft tall. I'll have a look for that seed pack!

The tall ones sound like the first ones I grew - which I liked the best, and I thought these were called Sensation or something similar. The ones I have grown this year are only about 18-24 ins and were also called Sensation so I'm not sure whats what now. If you can find out the name of the tall ones, I'd love to know?

No sorry, I couldn't find pack but I'm sure I grew those ion last couple of years but can't remember how they did. Getting forgetfull! I did fin the other pack though. It wasn't Carousel, it was Sensation that grew too tall which is, why I think I tried another one(Seashell??) the next year!

Oh that solves it. My 'this years Sensation' must have been labelled wrong as I thought they were the tall ones. Thanks Paul :)
