Thanks Mike, bet your daylilies are blooming their heads off now too. Wonderful description Sanbaz, now I'm getting hungry !...lol
Glad to hear you can grow them GT, that's fantastic ! It's hard to go wrong with daylilies. They are tough and endure alot of neglect and keep on growing.

23 Jul, 2009

Thanks JungleJen ! They have certainly worked their way into my heart....:-).

23 Jul, 2009

How long do they bloom for?

25 Jul, 2009

Jen they started blooming on June the 25th and I have one bud left that will probably open in the next day or two, so lets say a month. This clump is three years old and each year it seems to set more buds. Eventually it will have to be divided, but I'm not touching them until it shows signs of being overcrowded.

I think that I'll be getting a trolley load of these, thanks for the info Flcrazy.
Jen.

Lovely picture Flcrazy, I have this one too , one of my favourites, bit of a daylily addict I'm afraid, can't stop myself buying them,so many lovely varieties, had 103 different ones at last count, roll on next summer :-)

15 Nov, 2009

Wow..., 103 , you're my hero....;-) ! They really are an easy to grow, no fuss perennial, and there are so many to choose from !...lol. I know I'll run out of garden space before I run out of choices I want to buy...lol

15 Nov, 2009

Lol, I've run out of space, but just keep digging up more grass, lol.
Just acquired half and allotment at bottom of garden, never enough room ,lol.
Agree they are so easy and such lovely flowers, never had one die, bought quite a few spider and unusual forms this year, so can't wait till next year.
Bought a new encyclopedia of daylilies this year by Petit and Peat, has a section on daylilies of the future, ones that are being trialled in America now, they are amazing, the colours and patterns,be available to you before we get them here though :- (

16 Nov, 2009

Oooh.., you've gotten my pulse racing now...lol. I will certainly have to do some research and check these out !

Well Dayklily, you certainly picked a fantastic flower as your favorite. Did you know that there are over 35,000 different registered daylilies on the market ? You could never become bored with these flowers, with that many colors and shapes to choose from !

8 Apr, 2010

Hi flcrazy, no i did not know there were that many varieties of daylilly! i knew there were quite a few but not that many!

8 Apr, 2010

I love day lilies but I haven't seen this beauty before. I must get some.

29 Oct, 2010

On googling for it . Is it El Desperado or as you have it posted El deserado?

29 Oct, 2010

Hi Anchorman, it's El Desperado.. Sorry about the that. My mind is faster than my fingers...lol.

29 Oct, 2010

No problem On googling I see there are hundreds of fabulous day lilies. I propagate one variety on my plant nursery. I don't know its name as I got it from one of my customers gardens some years ago. This is the one

I love the orange daylilies you have at your nursery. I have some that are very similiar. They are the toughest, fastest spreading daylilies I own, and are the only ones I have that will set a few blooms in full shade . Also love your other choices too. I have one that looks 'entrapment',but it has a diferent name. With so many to choose from, (I believe there are at least 32,000 different registered daylily hybrids out there), there is no excuse for anyone not to have at least a few in there garden.
