Looks great! If that's Monarda in the back, it seems pretty tall!

Thanks for your lovely comments, makes the effort of keeping it weeded in 90 degree F weather worth it...lol. Wheww...
Louise, if you could see me trying to get to the back of this deep bed to weed it, you would get quite a chuckle, it's all I can do to keep my balance, weaving my way through it and trying not to step in anything...lol
Yes Charlie, this is our native variety,it can get from 3 to 6 feet tall, mine is about 5 feet tall. I got it from a relative who lives in the Blue Ridge mountains close by. So it does very well for us, has adapted well to our dry, humid, hot weather, and does well in the shade with no mildew problems. It's really a great plant that doesn't need any pampering. Only thing is, it spreads like crazy if it likes where you planted it...lol

This is looking wonderful. I too was staring at that monarda. Native aye? How lucky. :-)

Thanks Sanbaz and GT !
Yes it's native, and yes I'm very lucky indeed...;-). It's one of those plants that if you deadhead it regularly it will bloom for months, it just keeps sounding better and better, doesn't it...lol

Thanks for you sweet comments Elke, it's kind of obvious I like bright colors, isn't it...lol.

I agree that is some flower bed, the colours are so vibrant, it all looks wonderful, makes me want to change my colour scheme, perhaps next year!!!

8 Jul, 2009

Don't you dare change a thing Dotty, your garden is so beautiful, it's to die for ! It's gardens like yours that keep me inspired, not the other way around...:-)

9 Jul, 2009

Now come on, dont lets fall out about this, yours keeps me inspired, grass is always greener!!!!! lol

12 Jul, 2009

You said the truth there friend, and the grass just doesn't get any greener than what's growing in your yard ....;- ) !

Just beautiful..a credit to you

Thanks so much Deida, that was a very thoughtful thing to say. I really appreciate it.

The Monarda sure packs a punch, aye? Looks just wonderful! The monarda in my garden was slow to start this year...it's just hitting it's stride now...usually it blossoms right around the first of July..and with the colour and how it looks like fireworks...I think of it as a Canada Day plant!

15 Jul, 2009

My beeblam doesn't hit it's full stride until July either Lori. Even with the extreme temperature change between your climate and mine, nature still has a way of keeping her plants blooming on schedule.

This is lovely - what an impressive show.

Thanks Keithsmum,, my garden was in it's prime in this photo, it's all downhill from here...Still thrilled that I have a few more months of warm weather though , so I'm not complaining !...lol

I love your garden, especially the bee baum. Maybe we should start a N.C.
garden group. Can you put me in touch with other N.C. gardeners on this site? Would love to talk to gardeners in the Blue Ridge Mountain area. I think things grow a bit different here.

I'm afraid I don't know of any other members on this site from our State Valerie. Wohlibuli lives in South Carolina and there's a member that lives in Georgia, but her name escapes me at the moment. I'll have to do some more research and get back with you later.
