Sharpness marina over-looks the river severn which runs through best part of the west country including Bristol, Bath, Somerset, and Gloucester. The canal follows the river for a spell but then veers to the south slightly near saul and passes through glorious countryside and past many old vilages including a lovelly tudor village called frampton. It is very beautiful there, infact it is one of my favourite spots along the canal. It then rejoins the river in Gloucester where there is a very picturesque city with many old buildings, an underground roman settlement, six cathedrals and a very interesting waterways museum beside the victorian marina.
