They can be grown from cuttings Irish - this is best if you wish to retain the form and features of the parent cultivar. You just take cuttings from the semi-matured wood. If you're not worried about preserving features of the parent, then they can be grown easily from the seed. You just collect the unopened fruits and store in a warm place in a paper bag until the seeds are released.

I wonder if you have the same problem I have with this tree. My neighbor has a 20 feet / 6 meter tree which rains the red stamen mixed with spider webs all over the side of back yard. It is a horrible mess to clean up!

My callistemon is only around 3 metres tall and while it's lovely when it's in full bloom - yes they can be messy when the blooms all drop. It's much easier when they small to keep them trimmed and looking tidy.

My neighbor every year will cut off the top of the tree...however, it grows 6 - 8 feet within a very short period of time (6 months or so)
I'm so glad my neighbor doesn't have Callistemon viminalis - Weeping Bottlebrush. They grow to more than 60 feet / 20 meters tall. Talk about a horrible mess. LOL! : > )

Totally agree with you on the Weeping Bottlebrush - they are such a mess. Had these growing on the footpaths of a suburb I lived in many years ago and it was a disaster - the street looked horrible for most of the year.

They are quite stunning Irish when they're kept quite small - they respond well to a good trim and this encourages bushier growth and greater flower production. Over here we don't usually grow them as pot plants of course as they're natives - so in our gardens they grow rather large. I'm sure you'll get a lovely plant there.

I didn't mean to thrash Callistemon species...they are pretty trees if grown in a parking lots or along the freeway and in a park. LOL!
Irish:
I may be wrong, however, I don't think they would grow as large in England or Ireland as in Australia where they are native or California...which is a good thing. : > )
