Geranium 'Buxton's Variety'

Geranium 'Buxton's Variety' (Geranium wallichianum)

This is a mystery - the label on the plant said one thing, but the flower doesn't seem to match!

mmm it is very nice, but does'nt look much like Buxtons to me, This is lovely and to be honest i have not been over impressed with my Buxtons. Buxons is very simular to Sweet Hiedi, but more lilac than pink.... i did some research on Buxtons variety last year, and it was originally called Buxtons Blue, because the flowers are suposed to be 'china blue' but it is rare that it does flower china blue proberly due to soil type (it should flower twice a year too) - in all honestly mine did'nt flower twice last year.... anyway name was changed to Buxtons variety...to allow for the lack of blue... Rozanne is more blue... i now have all three, and you can defo see the difference in the flower colour...Hiedi is pink, Buxtons lilac, and Rozanne is bigger and better and purple/blue...all have a distintive white eye..but it is difficult to get a good pic... my favorite is Rozanne.

I thought that Buxton's should have a white centre - well, can you see one? It is certainly lilac, yes, and Heidi is smaller and pinker. It's still a mystery - and the other unknown one is like this one! Grrrrr. I wish it had been labelled correctly!

I told you you'd like Rozanne! Oh, and by the way, my 'Bill Wallis' seems to have little Bills round it! I do hope I can pot them up when they're big enough, Angie!

:D my name on one? xxxxxxxxx lol have you had many flowers on Buxtons? as if you look closely at your pic here, you can see a very faint white eye...if you look on my photo of Buxtons the white eye is not prominate either.... it is in acutal reality, but does'nt seem to photograph well...and i have noticed the white eye is more visable when the flower first opens.... it fades as it matures.... i'll try to take another pic of mine....

So do you think that they ARE Buxtons, then? And, no - only three flowers so far.

Yes, of course you can have a little Bill if I manage to grow them to size! You need a magnifying glass at the moment, lol.

Thanks :D.... as for Buxons I would'nt rule it out..it does have a noticable white eye, but as i said before it does fade as the flower matures and does look more like this...as my most recent pic will show you.. i will go and take another pic of mine, hopefully a younger flower and an older flower so you can see the difference. The later flowers do seem to have a more prominant eye...as i said before i have found Buxtons a bit dissapointing. :-( and if you did'nt see the flowers when they first opened, and have only had 3, what i would say is keep an eye (forgive the pun lol) open for new ones opening...

......typical..batteries just gone in my camer... will try and borrow some out of something of Brookes... i have two blooms on mine which are next to each other one old one new, which demonstrate this point perfectly...but although the one that is older has faded, you can still see it.... in the pic i took mine looks like yours...so the question is, is this pic, completely true to how it looks in real life?...or can you see an eye?

I have another plant - I've taken photos this morning to post. One has an eye that I can see, the other flowers..hmm...maybe.

I just had a look it does'nt look like Buxtons to me Spritz... if anything i think the plant you have is much nicer... you do have Rozanne and Sweet Hiedi which are both nicer anyway :-) i will get some batteries for my camera later today and try to get a better pic of my Buxtons. but the flowers are few and far between... not like the abundance you get from Rozanne.

Still none the wiser, though, Angie! I agree about the number of flowers - only a few at a time! :-(

... i think i may have found a name for you,,, not 100% sure but discription matches as well... check out 'Crystal Lake' - it's a new one, and it looks and sounds like yours...very faint white eye... deep purple vaines lilacy flowers.....
