Did you make any changes because of the drainage problems ?

Yeah, I dug in a bag of horticultural gravel and some compost. I think there's still an issue but it's not nearly as bad as it was.

Are you allowed to grow plants on the fence Peter ? (I'm relatively new to GOY and discovering old photos and blogs etc. so if the fence is now heavily laden with grapes or hops forgive my ignorance !!!) Looks like a great planting opportunity.

Nice idea Muddy, I saw nasturtiums growing on a fence somewhere and did think I might try those. They did a reasonable job of keeping caterpillars off my veg last year and I missed them this year. Welcome to GoY :o)
