AKA Loosestrife - I grew these from seed for the stream bank. They are the native species.

These are in their second year, so hang on in there - yours will get tall as well!

I hope so Spritz - just hope they can cope with the competition around the pond .... grass, small bullrushes etc.

Mine have to cope with rushes, Zantedeschia, Mallow, Primula errr... tall ones, Hypericum, Primula vialii, Astilbe and Aruncus, let alone a young but growing fast teenager of a Gunnera! So I'm sure they will cope just fine.:-)

Thanks Spritz, that's good news. I've been busy setting some nice big perennials around the pond this Spring, I remember you gave me some advice at the time. I'm looking forward to how they will look next year. I've set, Zantedeschia, Aruncus, Rodgersia, Darmera peltata, Ligularia The Rocket’, Rodgersia podophylla, Osmunda regalis and
‘Persicaria amplexicaulis Firetail’, What do you think Spritz - a nice selection? I've also grown some giant cowslips from seed that are now ready to set out :-)

That's what my tall errrr...Primulas are! Their latin name escapes me...never mind, I do like them, and so will you!
My Ligularia 'The Rocket' is in flower at the moment...it really has thrived on the bank. That set of plants sounds great! :-) I wish the bank were bigger, then I could fit more in.

Hi Spritz, mine are Primula florindae :-) I intend planting some on the island in the middle of the pond too. I think I was getting your Ligularia mixed up with the Rodgersia, sorry, pleased yours is doing well. So pleased you like the mix - I'm hoping the Royal Fern is going to be impressive.

Shoud be - I've seen them at Wisley, they're VERY impressive!
Thanks for the name - had a senior moment there... :-)
