You've done really well Sandra, it looks good! I put a line of dry salt over the weeds that pop up between my slabs Sandra. Really cheap and effective :-))

Nice one Sandra - get him down to Lidl (15p a packet) and get him to sprinkle - take effect in a couple of days and no chemicals as such!

lol dawn thanx for dirrections otherwise i may have had to get sat nav onto it, heheeh

ooh Thanks for that Dawn my flag stones have a life of their own - if I turn my back another weed shows up - it's my day off tomorrow so gonna do some "salting" - while we're on the subject of no chemicals - I have been experimenting with a mild soloution of washing up liquid in a spray bottle to eradicate / repel greenfly etc - I don't know if it's working or else greenfly and friends have gone south this month but have had not so much a problem in last few weeks

21 Jul, 2009

yes i use that angie it does work

21 Jul, 2009

Hi Angie - I've not used washing up liquid solution for greenfly but others say it works. I dont like to use chemicals - especially slug pellets. I have a gravel drive which the grass/weeds seem to like to grow in - strange as a good solid base, anyway ..... a sprinkling of salt soon kills them off. Not good for bad backs though, bending to sprinkle, lol, it works quick though.

of course washing liquid is chemicals, doh wasnt thinking , luckerly had no greenfly this year but im sure they will find me next year lol, going to rest my back a while now girls, catch you later x

Take care Sandra x

:o))

I'm not mad about slug pellets either but have used them on an occassion when I get really frustrated - was thinking of getting my 5 year old to do the "salting" that may save my back - and get him more involved with my gardening and after all he has to earn his keep !!
