When I first moved in here Siris I planted it just infront of a climbing rose I put in in a corner my bench was in front of them both as the rose did nt need cutting back but this did when I had my operation I could nt get to it nor can I move the bench to prune it back so when my grandson came I asked him to dig it out he damaged the roots and it died.

Oh, what a shame. Actually I never cut mine back, maybe I should, except to take off the dead bits that have died over winter.

I tried not cutting mine back before but found it did nt flower much perhaps it was because it was in a corner which never gets any sun.
If your is OK with flowering I would leave it.
