Acanthus Mollis_may_2008_-_29.jpg (Acanthus mollis)

This seems to have had a mammoth growth again all of a sudden. Will have to cut back harsher next year.

I think this picture shows Acanthus spinosus, not Acanthus mollis. They are commonly confused, and there are hybrids, I believe. The test is, do the leaves feel prickly? (If so, then 'spinosus). If the leaves are softer and look rounder, then 'mollis' (latin for 'soft').

What else?

See who else is growing Acanthus mollis.

See who else has plants in genus Acanthus.

This photo is of "Acanthus Mollis (Bears Breaches)" in Carolyn's garden
