Adenium obesum - Desert Rose Flowering

Adenium obesum - Desert Rose Flowering (Adenium obesum - Desert Rose)

My Desert Rose is just starting to flower. It's surprising it's flowering at all in the cool weather we had this May. This plant loves extreme heat! Photo taken May 29, 2019.

Thanks! No, it really doesn't like the cooler than normal weather in San Diego this last month.

Yes the weather is odd here to.

There's been very, very strange weather here in San Diego. Today it's going to be around 80ºF (27ºC) here. We haven't had any really hot weather here at all. I better not speak too loudly, though. LOL!

Perhaps it's saving it self for a long spell of hot weather. It's just a few days sun then cloudy then rain rain cloudy and rain and we are in summer lol.

Penny,

When it gets hot it most like will stay hot. Ugh! I guess I must enjoy this cooler than normal weather.

Aleyna,

That's amazing it only has two leaves! It should have a lot of leaves, especially if it's in a hot, sunny spot.

Lol you can complain then about the heat Andy enjoy the cool weather while you can but admire your Desert Rose when the heat comes.

Going to be 85f today and into the 90's Sunday and Monday..80's after that. Our first heatwave of the year.
The Desert Rose is quite specimen Andy..you can't buy them like that.you have to grow them.

The heat is here! UGH! lol!

Stan,

I see it was extremely hot over the last three day up there. It's been really hot here, also. Today didn't seem as hot, though.

Home Depot used to have much larger specimens for sale here. I purchased this one so many years ago (in 2004).

There's large specimens at the SD Zoo which I've posted in the past. I'd like to know where those large specimens came from.

101F OR 38C. a record...and that was a day it was supposed to cool down. My metal screen door was like fire when I touched it!
I don't know how the desert people can take that heat all summer long.
69f was our low.
Good thing I've been into the dry plants and the jungle plants I have are almost all shade growing. Timely watering keeps everything going.

I heard from my family up there about all the horrible heat! YUCK! Lol! I hate when it's that hot. I'm so glad when I leave for the Bay Area tomorrow it will be cooling down. YAY!

Back to normal. Only,Neoregalia fireball is brownish. And my largest Howea's frond look burnt. Its been years since its looked like that from heat. I thought I watered it enough. One of the Croton plants in a pot burnt to death. Again,it hadn't filled in after the cool spring. Its in the same spot the others had thrived in.
It had to be..after such a cold and wet May..90's-101,that 20 days later was too fast a change.
