This lemon verbena is about a year an half old and is only 6 feet/ 2 meters tall. It should be twice that height by now. It grows all year here...however, hasn't had enough water. It bloomed this past Feb and again in July and now it's in bloom again. Photo taken Sept. 22, 2010.

Employ your nose, D! The flowers smell quite different from the leaves.

I've never smelled the flowers...as the fragrant leaves over power the whole area.

Too true! The flowers smell like vanilla to me, though. Hmm. When they bloom, should they be called "Lemon Meringue Verbena"?

I picked some of the flowers today to smell...and yes you're 100% correct...they smell like vanilla. I never though about this plant to much over the years...however, I have a new appreciate for the plant now. Thanks! : >)
