Asclepias tuberosa

Twice I have tried growing this tuberous perennial and twice it has failed. I think a combination of winter cold and wet is its undoing so my third attempt is under the skirts of cotton lavender to give it winter protection but spring moisture after its protector's early season shearing. Stems to three feet in loamy soil in full sun
