Averrhoa carambola - Star Fruit

1 of 4 Star fruits in this area at the San Diego Zoo. Start fruit is an unusual fruit also...its fruits are grown on the branches and trunk of tree like Jaboticaba. It is however, in the Oxalidaceae family (Clover Family).

Thanks for posting!! I too live in San Diego. I have a star fruit from a seller at the Quail gardens, but I have no idea what variety it is or if it will be any good since she told me she started it from seed. I will add more photos soon too since I am new to this!! Great zoo stuff!
