Carludovica palmata 'Jungle Dawn' or 'Jungle Drum' (Carludovica palmata 'Jungle Dawn' or 'Jungle Drum')

My plant is 2 feet / 61 cm tall and 3 feet/ 1 meter wide.
Photo take (today) Feb. 23, 2010. This plant will go into the ground in my front yard after the shade structure is built.

Ah I see, it's come on well and a new leaf emerging too, really lovely. What's the white stuff in the pot?

Thanks! It's a little yellow because the roots are growing out the bottom of the pot. I think once it goes into the ground it will really green up...and should grow much faster.

The white suff is perlite in the soil. I mix it with the soil for almost all of my plants for good drainage.
