There's three golden shower trees in front of this house. Unfortunately, the large mother plant from these babies is not alive anymore. I think it may have succumb in the horrible 6 year extreme drought. You can see the dead tree in the background. Photo taken July 26, 2017.

We had this happen to lots of our palm like trees a few years ago but it was the winter that killed them.

The extreme, historic drought has killed many millions of trees in California. Even very drought tolerant trees were affected and killed, unfortunately! :>((
I can see why the palms would be affected by very cold weather there. Many palms are tropical and subtropical in nature or at least warm temperate.

Thats a shame so many trees have died through drought over there.

Yes, it's very horrible! Luckily, with all the snow in the Sierra Mountains and the good rainfall in most areas last season trees should start recovering and growing again. Hopefully, new trees will start growing, also.

I would guess trees are being replanted. It is going to take a long time to do so, though. There's so many millions of trees that died or was dying.

That is such a shame so many trees have died or dying perhaps more drought tolerant trees should be planted.

Many are native trees to the foothills and mountains and forested areas. I'm guessing only these trees will be re-planted. Many pine trees died here and throughout the state. I see so many still dying. The rains this past season were too little too late, unfortunately.

Thats sad Palms are still dying . You would of thought they would store water for them by getting water bought in from another area.

Some palms were dying. It's mostly pine trees that are being affected.

There are many native pines to California. Torrey pines are native only to a small area of San Diego.
