Clematis alpina 'Helsingborg' - 2012 (Clematis alpina 'Helsingborg')

This is trained into an amelanchier but the flowering times don't quite coincide. It was still in bud when I posted pictures of the host's flowers

The Amelanchier probably had a very short flowering period though if it's like mine (impressive but short lived)......looks like its working as a great host though. I hope my clematis 'Bill Mackenzie' looks as good in my Amelanchier as this Alpina does. (Did you have to add any extra support?)

No, I get my hosts well established before planting a climber. The problem is digging a large enough hole for the clematis among the amelanchier roots

Good idea, I have the Amelanchier ready and waiting and a spare Clematis to hand .........

This is lovely Andrew..the flower colour looks great against the colour of the Amelanchier trunk...:>)

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant support for the clematis. I've looked at pics of your amelanchier, it's a more refined tree than mine. Mine much older, upright, and taller. The main trunks are vertical for well over 6ft, hopefully it will find something to grip onto. It was in the garden when I moved in so I can take no credit for it.

NB-You have a very impressive collection of pictures!

Smorgie - you could always put some netting around the lower part of the tree - the clematis would soon cover it
