Clematis rehderiana - 2009

Clematis rehderiana - 2009 (Clematis rehderiana)

Rather than let this climb to the top of its supporting tree, this year I have trained it to about ten feet and then let it cascade from the branches so the flowers are at head height

Beautiful - I'd guess the bumble bee was very busy, as he's slightly blurred!

I need to get more clematis (clematii?!) I think... so many beautiful forms of this plant and I only have two!

This one is a big plant (to twenty feet or more) and not a very tidy grower

Great for growing in a tree though, looks good here.

Bamboo - that was my plan, to grow it in a flowerng cherry but the flowers are so small and far up, you can't see them unless you let it cascade down

Ah, so are you saying it looks messy because its cascading? Even though you can see those lovely flowers better?

28 Sep, 2009

No, I'm saying it makes a lot of leafy growth and stems all twining together - like a vigorous montana clematis - and the flowers on this are so small that you can only see them properly by letting some of the stems cascade back down

So still worth growing then, I'd say.

i know what you mean andrew one of my clematis has very small bell shaped flowers which dont stand out to much because of all the leaves and stems
