Coffea arabica - Coffee Tree

Coffea arabica - Coffee Tree (Coffea arabica - Coffee Tree)

This is a seedling from my old tall coffee tree (which I cut down last year because it died from the severe 6 drought). I gave this one to my friend 4 or 5 years ago. It was only a few inches high. Photo taken March 27, 2017.

I still have mine going. Cold hasnt been a problem. Enough hot shade to get it going has always been the problem.
Its now in more sun since last year. Nice looking plants. Sort of Camellia like.

You should see the photos of my tree before the extreme drought took hold. It produced many thousands of flowers and so many coffee cherries. It was 8' tall.

There is a farm of subtropicals in Santa Barbara and part of it has coffee plants. Growing in full sun on a hillside. They said they have a mix of berries, flowers and ripe beans all year.
Sounds like my Sapote. Something about the Med climate does that to tropicalia.

My tree would do the same. It would flower twice or three times a year. It's not unusual. I actually explained it in the text of the photos.

I give up on the one I have of being something more then a 3' shiny ornamental. And that's a future 3'. Right now at ~2'.

I've read they can grow to 6' in the San Francisco Bay Area. I had one that grew pretty quickly to 4'. I think it died in the 1990 freeze, though. The soil and water is so much better up there for them.

Here's a few pics of my coffee tree (which died last year).
