Dombeya wallichii - Pink Ball Tree, Tropical Hydrangea

Tropical Hydrangea before it was cut to a stump. This photo was taken Oct. 30, 2009. This tree is a wonderful winter flowering tree native to Madagascar and tropical Africa. This tree was more than 30 feet/ 10 meters tall and more than 40 feet / 13 meters wide.

Yes, it is one of Southern Califronia's most beautiful winter flowering trees. It is not a very common tree either...although I have a young tree. : > )
