Ficus benjamina - Weeping Fig

Ficus benjamina - Weeping Fig (Ficus benjamina - Weeping Fig)

This is one of the most widely planted fig trees in Southern California. It can grow pretty large, however, not as large as many other Ficus species. Photo taken at Morley Field, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Feb. 23, 2010.

Louise1:

Thanks! Yes, it's commonly grown as a house plant in most of the U.S. Only Coast areas of California, low deserts of California and Arizona, extreme South Texas, and South Florida can this tree be grown in the ground outside in the U.S.

It can grow to 50 feet / 15 meter tall here. This tree is pretty tall, however, dwarfed by the 120 foot/ 37 meters tall Eucalyptus trees.

Golly, that's tall.
It makes a great picture, the contrasting forms and heights, of them both :-)
