I posted this large Weeping Fig for my GoY friend Greenthumb.
These two large Weeping Figs are located at the main post office in uptown San Diego, CA. They are about 35 feet/11 meters tall and the two together have a spread of about 150 feet/46 meters. There's larger trees growing here, however these trees have such a nice umbrella-shaped crown. Photo taken March 28, 2009.

Yes when they get old they have umbrella-shape, when their younger they have more of a roundish crown.
These trees are very widely used as street trees...however, they are not good street trees because of the enormous root system which lifts sidewalks. They also can grow extremely large more 50 feet/ 16 meters tall. These trees are medium height, although with a huge spread and diameter. This photo really doesn't show the scale of how much area it is actually covering.

Photos can be deceiving. lol. Weeping mean the tree has weeping branches that hand down...and all Ficus produce figs, Ficus is the Latin word for Fig. F. benjamina have pea-sized green figs which are produced on mature trees like these by the hundreds of thousands, then the figs ripen and turn red...falling down everywhere...it is a horrible mess! Another reason why it's not a good street tree.

I would never have thought they would umbrella like this, since all I've seen are just round little bushes. :-) Looks like a wonderful street tree, not too large and great shade, although does weeping mean they drop things, like on your car? I know some tree really make a mess now and then. These seem very clean.
