I love Figs

I was always told it was to do with extreme of temperature with fruit drop with figs , very warm days then very cold nights... which when you think about we have had past couple of weeks and this week Tuesday it was roasting now back to this !! gray wet and cold !
Irregular watering or/and being grown in a pot which also makes them more difficult to fruit successfully.

Thank you for that information, Gnarly, maybe they were too warm in the conservatory early Spring. If I can remember that far back, I think we had a heat wave, then its been miserable since early July.

Lucky you, we've moved ours in its pot to the south-ish facing house wall, it's never fruited in 20 years lol

Sorry to hear that Dawn, you are further north than me, but my Fig Pot is not against a south facing wall.

Odd isn't it Siris, anyway we will see what happens next year.

Look healthy. Usually potted fruiting plants shed the vast majority of what they set.
We have brown Turkey growing next to our lot. We picked last week a bunch of figs and today the leaves are still green- but they look to have begun shutting down even in 30C weather. They go by day length I guess.

Thank you Stan, I think I will try to keep the temperature more constant next year, maybe move the pot out of the conservatory to under the carport earlier in Spring.

Given up with ours it has been cut hard back and now kept as an ornamental tree.....

Do you grow yours outside in a tub or the border,DottyD?

It is in the border at the very back of the garden, what figs we used to get were eaten by the squirrels, who got to them first, as the tree is growing against the fence lol!

Oh, that quite a shady area there, under those tall trees. Dd.
