I hope so Dotty ... I have removed all the brown bits and planted it near a dark pink Rose ... watered it in then the heavens opened ... typical!

That will go well with your Rose ,Shirley..like me,you are a good bargain hunter :o)

Hi Sandra, hope you had a good holiday and are feeling refreshed! The local GC had lots of plants on the seasonal clearance benches ... some were clearly past their sell-by date but this one just needed some TLC! It seems ages since I bought anything for the garden ...

Thank you,Shirley,we did indeed..I didn't see a bargain bench when we went this week..but I had a voucher to spend,so I was otherwise distracted Lol.I'm sure yours will do well, they are quite forgiving plants aren't they? Not averse to having a few leaves pulled off :o)

You guessed right Shirley! spent some on Friday, and today,I found the clearance corner..well hidden,I might had,but I found it eventually :o). Why would they do that, when they want to get rid,or had they an inkling I would be going ? ha ha..I bought two substantial Dianthus at half price, called 'Slap and Tickle ' !! Lol..a raspberry shade of pink,so it says..
We had a lovely afternoon seeing all the rescued Owls, and both Thomas and I had photo's taken holding them. The Gauntlet glove was almost as long as his arm,but he wasn't scared at all.. He went back to hold two more. My boy has no fear..:o)

Where do they get their plant names from? Slap & Tickle indeed ... although it does have a strong scent apparently.

We have a Falconer living nearby, he shows birds of prey at country fairs, residential homes etc. and, as a group of Owls are called a Parliament, many of them are named after politicians! Here's a few, Winston, Maggie, Mo, Paddy, Boris, Nigel and Enoch. All good fun!

I know ! I'm sure someone could have thought of a better name, and yes, apparently it does have a strong scent..This guy was from a Wildlife trust, and he was so informative, and especially communicated well with all the children..The large Canadian Owl I had on my arm was called Eva.Maybe it was after Peron..:o)

I think it's wonderful how these birds of prey interact with humans ... :o)

Isn't it just Shirley? Seeing as they can't be placed back in the wild, because of injury ,etc,It's wonderful that they are cared for so well :o)I have so much admiration for these people...

Hello Shirley, you have done a very good business :-). What does clearance bench mean in English, please?

13 Oct, 2014

It is usually a long table called a bench where the nurseries and garden centres place the end of season plants for sale. Sometimes the plants are just finishing flowering and probably won't be sold unless reduced in price, so they move them to a specific area to clear space for new plants. I hope that makes sense Katarina! :o)

So this is sort of seasonal sales. I like that term. Thank you.
