Helleborus thibetanus - 2014

Helleborus thibetanus - 2014 (Helleborus thibetanus)

Looking very battered :-(

This early hellebore only grows a few inches high in a shady position in a leafy soil.

The Kew Gardens website claims it is easy to grow in the south of the UK, but dislikes excessive moisture in the early part of the season.

My experience is that it only makes an appearance in wet springs. It has died down again by end of June/early July.

Driad - I think we'd all look a bit forlorn if we were sitting out in this weather

I've just been reading an article about this in The Garden mag think it was in January issue, never seen it before and thought how lovely it was but probably wouldn't do well here.
