Hydrangea macrophylla 'Summer Lace'

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Summer Lace' (Hydrangea macrophylla (Hortensia))

The first flowers that opened were not nearly as impressive as these. This has quite a few new flowers on it too and definitely flowers well on new growth. The flowers on this have held up better than some of the others in the heat too.

Is this really H. macrophylla, Rkwright?

Yes, part of the forever and ever series of hydrangea, definitely H. macrophylla.

I see. So this is series of new Hydrangeas? I noticed that label (forever and ever) on some of H. in GC, but I thought it is just name of that H. Do you know what are their qualities?

Their big selling point is supposed to be the ability to flower on old and new wood like Endless Summer. Most of them do but the quality and number of flowers produced is not as good as Endless Summer. They are more compact then the Endless Summer hydrangeas and many of them do have nicer looking dark green foliage (the foliage on this one is not as nice but flowers are nicer than most Forever & Ever). I posted a picture of Red Sensation too, that is another Forever & Ever and has very nice foliage.

I think this is what a friend gave me.... I have my fingers crossed hoping it is so... lovely!

It is a nice hydrangea but actually my least favorite of all my lacecaps! Nothing wrong with it, I just like the others better. There are so many nice hydrangeas, it's hard to go wrong! Whatever it is, I hope it grows well for you and gives you years of beautiful flowers!

See who else is growing Hydrangea macrophylla (Hortensia).

See who else has plants in genus Hydrangea.
