This one and Blue Billow look awesome in a shaded woodland spot. It would look really neat to have a few of these grouped together.

I am hoping too but the place I am moving too has limited shade. Mostly open, sunny yard that is very dry with heavy soil. I am going to be doing a lot of work to improve the soil structure and hope to have room to keep some of them together. If all goes as planned, I will have a few hydrangea groups though.

Some Hydrangeas like sunny places. I have several in my garden without water, will check it for you.

All hydrangeas like sun, I have a few H. macrophylla and H. quercifolia in full sun. I wouldn't put Hydrangea paniculata anywhere that isn't sunny. The problem is the climate here is different, winters are colder and summers are generally hotter and dry. My Endless Summer needs water almost daily in full sun, I have similar hydrangeas in part sun that hold up longer. Hydrangea paniculata and Hydrangea quercifolia can take it much drier than Hydrangea arborescens, macrophylla and serrata. I am going to group Alice, Snowflake and Snow Queen oakleaf hydrangea all together though.

I have hydrangea Snowflake too, in my dry garden and it evidently grows better then H. macrophylla. :)
