I am really hoping Iris confusa might flower this year. It is evergreen and has increased a lot. I've cut off the brown bits, since this photo, but it must never be cut to the ground.

DAWN, I've been growing Dietes bicolor since 2015 in the conservatory, but that also has never flowered yet.

Interesting Siris, my old school friend in Australia says hers flowers for most of the year, I guess we’re on the wrong side of the world.

Have you tried mulching over winter I ve just read it doesn't like windy places it like s being sheltered and drought tolerant and doent mind shade.

Thank you 3PB, it is in as sheltered a spot as is possible without being parched as it likes a moist but well drained spot. I am going to give it a feed of blood, fish & bone shortly. Also I've put 2 rhizomes in a different spot, as a trial.

Have you ever grown Dietes grandiflora
(fairy iris) I have a friend in Australia who has them in her garden, I’ve read they’ll only stand temps down to -5.
