Orris root is used as a stabilizer/preservative in some scents and potpourri. Many years back there was a scent called Charley, which I loved. I wore it to work the first day and had to go home by 10 a.m. and shower! My head was so stuffed up I could hardly breathe. Thank goodness the flowers don't affect me that way.
