I have an oak seedling I'm going to try and make it into a bonsai. These look very old.

Hy Hywel, to speed up the process, Plant your seeddling oak into open ground for 2 /3 years, then start the bonsai process, which is on a yearly basis, prune a third off the crown and a third off the roots. I did go to classes for quite a few years, but it is an expensive business.
There are lots of books you can buy too. Love Marge.
